… The Huffington Post tells us “Bloggers Provide Raw view of Mumbai Massacre”
And goes on to mention the comic relief provided by some user named Orange Jammies.
Hmm… what was this tweeter thinking, being a clown at 3 a.m.?
Thanks, Whipster, for the ping.
Hi OJ..came here through MM. Like you have been clinging on to those who have a shared experience (far away here in NY). I grew up in colaba, my school is opposite regal, sure you can guess which…my whole life revolved within that radius. I am not trying to make this tragedy mine…it’s not mine, it’s yours and it’s those we lost but I want you to know, I am raging. You need not ask, I am raging.
I am coming down later this year and want to go to every place – I cannot wait. I will be in touch with your blog to see if there’s anything happening I can attend or be a part of. Thanks for sharing – there is no home for me other than south bombay so I know. I don’t know it the way you do, today, from your window. But I know.
Oh my god, what the bloody hell – I read this story and I chopped it for my mag – and why the hell din’t I read the orange jammies bit? damn! OJ, this has probably been carried all over the world – it’s a wire story.
And oh, Yipee!
Came here to say the WP had an article with a reference to you. Same AP article.
Just read your previous post. Beautiful.
OJ, pardon me for talking about something unrelated to this post.
I read that Cafe Leo already opened up. Trident is already functional and Taj restoration has begun. Its bothering me because I dont believe that the forensic experts have gathered all evidence possible from these locations in such a short time. Shouldnt the place be combed down in minute details to find out the inside connections. Everyone believes that there was inside help at Taj and Oberoi. Shouldnt there be some more investigation? The opening up of the places is being touted once again as ‘how bombay always moves on’
This is scaring me a lot. Like u mentioned in your previous post, lets not be in such a hurry to move on. We need answers.
nits: Oh but it is yours, nits, as much as it is anybody’s who feels strongly about this. I don’t own a South Bombay copyright, although I may act like it every so often. 🙂
There are several memorial services, protest marches and candlelight vigils/rallies happening at present time and I believe they will extend well into next week. Will put up information on the flavor of the month page of this blog as and when I receive it.
Feel free to contact me at orangejammies@yahoo.com if you have any specific questions when you get here.
Nino’s Mum: It was such a blink-and-you-miss-it mention, I’d have skipped it too, had it not been brought to my attention.
Sujatha: Thank you, Sujatha.
Anamika: Yes, Leo’s is open already, they’re cleaning up and investigating in the Oberoi Trident and the Taj is eerily quiet and boarded up from the outside. With the arrival of international investigative outfits, I don’t believe the authorities will be able to do as much of a slipshod job. I agree with you when you say that the rush to move on is scary. Makes me physically want to restrain my city and make it look around, take some deep breaths and engage in some serious navel-gazing. Will let you know if I hear/read anything more.
Oh OJ, comic relief apart, you were an absolute star with your tweets. How in the world did you manage to type as fast as you did, with up-to-date info? I for one was glued to my computer, all thanks to you. Very grateful.
Chips: Long-distance relationships depend on typing skills, hon. 😉 Especially when you’re 21 and can’t afford cross-country telephone calls.
